What an eventful trip! It was an extremely windy day on the 27th and once we got to the panhandle I started to notice smoke in the distance. There was still a lot of oncoming traffic so we continued westward. Just before Slapout I ran into a large grass fire burning on both sides of the road. Needless to say I had to turn around and take 283 to Liberal, KS. What should have been a 7 hour trip ended up turning into 9 hours! Luckily Hunter was only fussy the last hour of the trip.
Once we arrived at the farm Papa had something planned almost everyday. Monday we took Papa to his doctor’s appointment and Hunter got to visit Mimi’s work. He thought all of the other teachers were a bit scary and cried. Tuesday Hunter attended his first basketball game so he could watch his cousin Lynde dance. Wednesday Hunter got to spend all day playing with Papa. Thursday we were back to town for another doctor’s appointment and a visit to the school. Friday was a special day for Hunter. He got to visit his Great-Grandpa Harlow and Great-Grandma Harlow. He also got to attend his Great Uncle LeDon’s farm sale. Saturday was yet another busy day. We attended a wedding reception for Mommy’s friend from high school. After a fun filled and exhausting week at Mimi and Papa’s we headed home Feb 3. Luckily this time it only took us 7 hours, which meant we were back home in time to celebrate the Super Bowl with friends.
