Hunter loves going to AWANAs. Last year (2011-2012) was Hunter’s first year in Cubbies. At first, he wouldn’t say his verses but after a month of going he finally felt comfortable reciting them. He ended up memorizing all of the verses for the year.
Last May they had a awards ceremony. Most of my pictures turned out horrible, but thankfully some other parents shared their pictures with me.
Here is his class from last year.
He got his first year award, a Cubbies bear that attaches to his vest. He had been looking forward to getting the bear all year.
Katelyn at the ceremony. She is still too young for AWANAs, but she often learns the verses along with Hunter and is looking forward to being in Cubbies someday.
A few weeks ago Jonathan snapped a picture of Hunter in his vest. He has grown up so much in 1 1/2 years. Not only has he gotten taller (his vest is almost too small), he has become more independent and confident. He no longer fears reciting his verses and marches right into his classroom. This year he is doing AWANAs a local church, because the drive to Edmond was a bit much last year. Many of the boys are also in his Pre-K class, so he has made several new friends.
